About the role

The University of Providence, a Catholic, student-centered, and mission-focused university, invites applications for the position of Director of Residential Life. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and mission-driven leader to shape a vibrant residential experience that fosters student growth, leadership, service, and virtue.

Responsibilities

  • Provide visionary leadership for residential life initiatives aligned with the University's Catholic mission and Communities of Character framework.
  • Develop meaningful residential programs that support faith formation, personal development, leadership, and student engagement.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train professional and student staff in community-building, ethical leadership, and character development.
  • Oversee residence hall operations, occupancy management, conflict resolution, and student welfare.
  • Lead student conduct processes using Maxient and other student life technologies while promoting a fair, educational, and restorative approach.
  • Collaborate closely with Campus Ministry, Mission Integration, Counseling Services, Career Services, and Student Engagement to provide holistic support for students.
  • Assess residential learning outcomes and implement strategies that strengthen student success and belonging.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Theology, Pastoral Studies, Divinity, or a related field.
  • 5–10 years of progressively responsible higher education experience, preferably in residence life or student affairs.
  • Experience leading student conduct processes and working with student life software such as Maxient.
  • A demonstrated commitment to Catholic higher education and mission-centered student development.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • A passion for mentoring student leaders and creating communities where students flourish.

Qualifications

  • Passionate about shaping a vibrant residential experience that fosters student growth, leadership, service, and virtue.
  • Experienced in developing and implementing residential programs that support faith formation, personal development, leadership, and student engagement.
  • Skilled in supervising, mentoring, and training professional and student staff in community-building, ethical leadership, and character development.
  • Familiar with student life software such as Maxient and able to lead student conduct processes using it.
  • Committed to Catholic higher education and mission-centered student development.
  • Effective communicator and relationship-builder with strong leadership skills.
  • Passionate about mentoring student leaders and creating communities where students flourish.

Skills

  • Strategic planning and implementation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Catholic higher education principles and practices.
  • Experience with student life software such as Maxient.
  • Ability to foster a safe and inclusive residential environment.

Benefits

This position includes on-call responsibilities and occasional evening and weekend programming.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

Schedule

This is a full-time, exempt position.
