Director of Purchasing

About the role

The Director of Purchasing is responsible for leading the Purchasing Department with a strategic focus on neighborhood setup and cost management. This includes overseeing product and vendor selection, lot budget creation, contract management, scope of work enforcement, and trade partner evaluation, all in close collaboration with the Corporate Purchasing Team.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve trade partner bids
• Maintain master agreements
• Drive cost efficiency through market analysis and cost-saving initiatives
• Lead pre-contracting efforts
• Facilitate neighborhood specification meetings
• Validate direct costs for feasibility studies tied to new neighborhood opportunities
• Monitor commodity pricing trends and proactively address supply chain challenges
• Ensure operational alignment and adherence to best practices through routine departmental meetings, database oversight, and collaboration across local, regional, and corporate teams

Requirements

• College degree required
• Strong purchasing experience required
• Strong systems and technology orientation
• Experience working with contracts and/or budgets preferred
• Exceptional MS Office skills

• Ability to multitask and demonstrate exceptional attention to detail
• Strong relationship-building abilities both internally and externally
• Ability to clearly communicate insights and collaborate effectively across teams
