About the role

A rapidly growing Boston clinical-stage biotechnology company is seeking a Director of Strategic Sourcing & Procurement. This role reports directly to the VP, Controller.

Responsibilities

  • Build and implement the company's strategic sourcing and procurement function
  • Develop procurement policies, SOPs, and end-to-end purchasing processes
  • Lead supplier sourcing, RFP/RFI/RFQ processes, contract negotiations, and vendor management
  • Partner cross-functionally to support clinical development, manufacturing, and commercial operations
  • Conduct spend analysis, identify cost savings, and establish procurement KPIs
  • Ensure SOX compliance and procurement governance across the organization

Requirements

  • 10+ years of strategic sourcing/procurement experience within biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences
  • Experience building or transforming a procurement function in a high-growth clinical-stage environment
  • Commercial biotech experience strongly preferred
  • Deep knowledge of clinical trials, CRO/vendor management, clinical supply chain, and commercial manufacturing
  • Prioritize negotiation skills and the ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of procurement governance, compliance, and process improvement
