About the Role
The Director of Purchasing is responsible for aggressively driving Property-wide supply management cost savings through strategic sourcing processes. This position ensures that Procurement is aligned with the strategic objectives of the properties and utilizes industry-leading strategies and technologies to deliver world-class results.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the annual procurement of each property’s spending for goods, services, and capital projects.
- Identify and execute sourcing plans to meet cost-saving targets in each spend category, yielding measurable year-over-year reductions in the cost of purchased goods and services.
- Monitor, analyze, and assess pricing and delivery costs of purchased commodities and services for impacts on business unit spend and sourcing strategies.
- Participate in fiscal planning and goal setting for the Company, linking strategic plans to the Company’s vision and prioritizing property-wide efforts to implement strategies.
- Advocate cultural change and lead senior property executives in procurement best practices, benchmarking efforts, and process improvement implementation.
- Develop, implement, and enforce procurement policies and manage critical issues arising from procurement initiatives, including interactions with internal auditors on procurement matters.
- Deploy process solutions to accomplish departmental goals and measure adherence to these systems and processes for compliance.
- Act as Process Owner of the Requisition-to-Pay process, ensuring requisitions receive “best-value” goods and services in a timely manner and suppliers are paid according to Company terms.
- Measure process performance and develop continuous improvement plans.
- Develop a framework for evaluating supplier performance and compliance with contract terms.
- Build, train, and mentor a high-performing team of procurement professionals, creating a strategic organizational and staffing model to ensure effective performance and customer satisfaction.
- Provide routine performance feedback, identify training gaps, and develop plans to address departmental skill shortages.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Oversee the Purchasing department, including hiring and training, planning, assigning, and directing work.
- Appraise performance, reward and discipline staff, and address complaints and resolve problems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or related advanced degree preferred.
- Eight or more years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with increasing levels of responsibility and supervision.
- Must possess and maintain applicable regional Gaming card(s) and/or License(s), if any.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English, including reading and writing simple lists, interoffice memorandums, and business correspondence.
- Proficiency in basic mathematical operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
