About the role

The Director of Project Rebound position at California State University, Los Angeles (Cal State LA) is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating outreach, access, and support services for formerly incarcerated students. This role involves collaboration with the campus community to facilitate the transition of these students into university life and ensure their academic success.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement outreach strategies to connect formerly incarcerated students with university resources.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of support services and make necessary improvements.
  • Build and maintain relationships with the broader university community to foster a supportive environment for formerly incarcerated students.
  • Supervise a team of professionals and support staff to ensure the smooth operation of the project.
  • Provide guidance and support to students, addressing their unique challenges and needs.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate support services into the overall student experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in higher education or a related field.
  • An understanding and awareness of concerns and needs of formerly incarcerated students.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a cost center and budgeting.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to make effective presentations.
  • Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with various constituencies.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and direct others in the formation and implementation of programs and services.
  • Experience working with program assessment and outcome measures.

Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree in higher education leadership, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience working with incarcerated people or formerly incarcerated students is desirable.
  • Experience supervising a team is beneficial.
  • Expertise and/or experience in working with a broad range of presenting problems and constituencies.
  • Experience working with program assessment and outcome measures to assess service effectiveness and promote quality improvement.

Skills

Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural/multiethnic environment are essential. The ideal candidate should also possess a demonstrated interest and/or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment.

Benefits

Coverage under the California State University's Conflict of Interest Code is required. The University provides a comprehensive benefits package, including a salary commensurate with experience and qualifications, and a competitive benefits package.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $4,135-$12,288 monthly, with a budgeted hiring salary range of $7,500-$8,400 monthly. Appointment is made under the guidelines for management and supervisory employees of the California State University.

Schedule

The position is full-time and permanent, with the option to telework under certain circumstances.
