Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Director of Program Management responsible for overseeing the planning, development, and execution of the organization's programs and services. This individual will lead program strategy and execution while managing scheduling, pricing, financial performance, technical performance, budgets, P&L, customer relationships, and program risk. The Director will work closely with executive leadership, Program Managers, internal teams, and customers to ensure programs are delivered successfully and meet contractual, financial, technical, and schedule requirements. This is a senior leadership position with responsibility for directing program teams, developing business opportunities, managing customer relationships, and ensuring successful execution across the organization's program portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Leadership & Execution: Establish the strategic direction of programs and services in collaboration with executive leadership and other Program Managers. Oversee the planning, development, and execution of company programs. Coordinate and monitor program scheduling, pricing, financial performance, and technical performance. Develop and ensure adherence to program master plans and schedules. Provide guidance and direction to program teams regarding projects, priorities, tasks, and operations. Direct the work of employees assigned to programs and projects. Monitor overall program performance and ensure organizational objectives are achieved.
  • Financial & P&L Management: Assist in developing budgets for production programs. Track and monitor program costs. Maintain responsibility for adherence to established budgets. Hold P&L responsibility for assigned programs. Evaluate the financial conditions, resources, and contractual requirements associated with programs. Monitor financial performance and identify potential cost or budget concerns.
  • Contracts & Proposals: Negotiate and prepare contracts while considering financial conditions, available resources, and contractual requirements. Assist in preparing proposals, program plans, specifications, and contract financial conditions. Coordinate contractual requirements with internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Customer & Stakeholder Management: Serve as a primary point of contact for customers regarding program status, requirements, needs, and issue resolution. Maintain routine customer communication throughout program execution. Escalate significant customer or program concerns to senior management when appropriate. Develop strong customer relationships and ensure successful program delivery. Prepare and deliver management progress reports and presentations.
  • Schedule, Cost & Risk Management: Develop and maintain program schedules and master plans. Monitor program costs, schedules, technical requirements, and overall performance. Identify and monitor program risks. Develop and implement appropriate risk-mitigation strategies. Ensure programs remain aligned with contractual requirements, budgets, and customer expectations. Utilize project and program management principles and tools to measure program success.
  • Business Development: Identify opportunities to develop new business. Support expansion of existing product lines. Partner with company leadership to identify opportunities for organizational and program growth. Maintain knowledge of developing technologies, trends, and industry developments.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: Provide direct leadership and supervision to employees reporting to the Director of Program Management. Responsible for hiring, evaluating, and managing employees within the department. Manage supervisors and provide guidance regarding significant employment and performance decisions. Provide leadership and direction to employees assigned to programs and projects. Develop accountability across program teams to ensure successful execution.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year university or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Demonstrated success in schedule, cost, and risk management.
  • Strong knowledge of project and program management principles and tools used to measure program success.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers, program teams, and executive leadership.
  • Must qualify as a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR (22 CFR 120.15).

Certifications

  • PMP or PgMP certification required.
  • Candidates who are not currently certified must be willing to obtain the applicable certification through the Project Management Institute within six months of hire.

Travel Requirements

  • Occasional travel is required.
  • Travel may include overnight and out-of-area assignments.
  • Occasional international travel may be required.

Compensation

$140,000–$150,000 Base Salary

Schedule

Full-Time, Monday–Thursday | Four 10-Hour Shifts

Work Environment

  • Primarily office-based position.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required based on business and program needs.
  • Position is primarily sedentary but may require standing, walking, reaching, and other normal office activities.
