About the role

The Director will own and oversee three squads—Loyalty & Incentives, Occasions, and CRM—within the Buyer Experience group. The focus of this team is to deliver high-quality, compelling experiences that feel more rewarding, drive greater value, and bring buyers back more often. This role requires close partnership with Marketing, Relevance, and Seller-side teams, among other cross-functional stakeholders. The 6-month interim engagement covers a pivotal planning period ahead of Etsy’s 2027 strategy, and the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring teams deliver well-informed roadmaps aligned to longer-term outcomes.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of product management experience, 3–5 years at Director level or above leading multi-squad organizations in consumer-facing products; demonstrated ability to set vision, develop roadmaps, and deliver measurable business outcomes across complex, matrixed environments.
  • Deep domain expertise in buyer retention and engagement, including hands-on ownership of loyalty programs, CRM strategy, lifecycle marketing, or incentives—with a track record of improving retention, repeat purchase rate, or LTV at meaningful scale.
  • Proven ability to lead through data and ML-driven product development, comfortable partnering with applied ML and data science teams to translate model outputs into buyer-facing experiences; familiarity with personalization, propensity modeling, or recommendation systems is a strong plus.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and executive communication skills, with experience aligning Marketing, Engineering, Design, and Seller-side stakeholders around a shared strategy and presenting confidently to senior leadership and C-suite audiences.
  • Strategic planning acumen in high-velocity periods, including ownership of annual and multi-year planning cycles, translating company-level OKRs into squad-level goals, and making resource prioritization tradeoffs under ambiguity.
  • Experience operating in a two-sided or marketplace business model, with an appreciation for how buyer engagement strategies intersect with seller health and the ability to navigate that tension thoughtfully.
