Director of Product, Delivery and Fulfillment Intelligence (Remote)
ezCater is the #1 food tech platform for workplaces in the US, making it easy for organizations to manage food needs and order from over 125,000 restaurants nationwide. We provide flexible, scalable solutions for employee meal programs and meetings, backed by 24/7 service and business-grade reliability. For restaurant partners, we drive new high-value customers and large orders. Our focus is on orchestrating the last mile of catering delivery—a complex, high-stakes operation that demands precision and reliability.
About the role
We are looking for a Director of Product to define and own the Delivery & Fulfillment Intelligence Platform—the system of record and intelligence for every delivery on our network. This platform spans the full lifecycle: demand and capacity planning, promise and lead-time calculation, routing and dispatch, in-flight risk detection, handoff and setup, and continuous learning to improve future deliveries. You will build on our multi-year re-platform investment, leveraging modern primitives while defining the delivery domain itself.
This role sits within the Platform domain, reports to the VP of Product Management for Platforms, and includes a dedicated engineering, data, and data science team. You will collaborate closely with Supply Chain Operations, Delivery Partnerships, CX Product, and Restaurant Technology.
Responsibilities
- Define the vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap for the Delivery & Fulfillment Intelligence Platform, ensuring clear ownership of decisions and data while experience teams handle customer-facing execution.
- Establish the delivery domain from first principles, including the canonical event and state model, telemetry, history, and governed contracts for cross-domain integration.
- Develop key capabilities such as order risk assessment, proactive intervention, building- and address-level intelligence, decomposed lead-time accuracy, and dynamic routing that adapts in real time to changing conditions.
- Build bespoke capabilities like demand and capacity forecasting, and network optimization to allocate delivery supply under cost, coverage, and reliability constraints.
- Partner with Data teams to instrument the delivery lifecycle, define critical metrics (e.g., on-time performance, promise accuracy, straight-through rate), and implement a learning loop to close the gap between predictions and outcomes.
- Drive architectural and commercial trade-offs: decide what to build vs. buy (e.g., ETA services, optimization solvers, telematics) and where logic belongs (model, solver, or rule).
- Collaborate with Supply Chain Operations, Delivery Partnerships, and Finance to evaluate insourcing delivery logistics—whether for a market, service tier, or hybrid model—using real data to build the case while keeping supply type configurable.
- Represent the platform at the executive level, advocating for structural investments over short-term wins and distinguishing between tactical and long-term value.
- Hire, lead, and grow the product team, starting hands-on and scaling as the platform evolves.
- Travel to Boston quarterly for planning, architecture reviews, and business reviews.
Requirements
- 10+ years of product management experience, including 3+ years leading product managers, with expertise in platform, infrastructure, logistics, or marketplace operations. This role requires defining a domain in an ambiguous, high-stakes space with significant autonomy.
- Experience hiring, developing, and retaining strong product managers, with the judgment to coach or take direct action as needed. You are a builder who leads, not a manager who reviews.
- Proven track record owning fulfillment, dispatch, logistics, or supply-chain intelligence products at scale—e.g., last-mile delivery, freight, field service, or on-demand marketplaces where software drives physical operations.
- Deep expertise in at least two of: routing and dispatch optimization, ETA/travel-time prediction, demand/capacity forecasting, risk scoring, anomaly detection, or geospatial data systems.
- Judgment to determine when problems require machine learning vs. solvers, rules, or better data—and the discipline to advocate for cost-effective solutions. Experience shipping ML-backed products in production, with understanding of calibration, training/serving skew, and offline vs. online evaluation.
- Ability to engage senior engineers as a peer on event-driven architecture: event schemas, state machines, idempotency, service boundaries, API contracts, and durable workflow orchestration. You can specify designs engineers can build from.
- Experience in multi-sided marketplaces with third-party supply networks, SLAs, rate cards, and capacity commitments.
- Strong analytical skills: you define metrics frameworks, identify data quality issues proactively, and reconcile numbers independently.
- Track record influencing peers and executives without authority across product, engineering, data science, operations, and commercial teams. Ability to manage multi-workstream programs across engineering teams.
- Comfort operating in a business with operational history: you can distinguish what to rebuild vs. leave alone and sequence a multi-year platform build to deliver incremental value.
- Experience in food delivery, restaurant technology, or B2B logistics is a plus.
- Ability to travel up to 5 days per quarter for team gatherings and events.
Pay
The national total target cash compensation range for this position, including base salary and bonus target, is $229,000 - $321,000 annually. Final offer amounts may vary based on prior experience, expertise, and region.

- 12 paid holidays and flexible PTO.
- 401K with ezCater match.
- Health, dental, and FSA benefits.
- Long-term disability insurance and mental health/family planning resources.
- Remote-hybrid work flexibility (Boston office, home, or a mix).
- Employee meal program and other office perks.
