Director of Preschool

About the role

Messiah Lutheran Preschool in Fitchburg, MA is seeking a Preschool Director. The preschool is a ministry of the Messiah Lutheran Church-Fitchburg, which extends its mission to proclaim Christ, serve families, and nurture children in the love of Jesus.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all DEEC regulations and licensing requirements
• Maintain required records for staff, children, and volunteers
• Oversee program safety, including health care policies and IPM compliance
• Conduct annual program assessments (ECERS/ITERS)
• Recruit, hire, train, and supervise preschool staff
• Lead ongoing professional development and staff training
• Facilitate monthly staff meetings and foster a collaborative team environment
• Cookordinate and support curriculum development and implementation
• Monitor classroom quality and maintain program standards
• Develop and maintain staff and parent handbooks, policies, and procedures
• Oversee facility maintenance and daily operations
• Prepare annual calendar and maintain program documentation
• Develop and manage the preschool budget
• Establish tuition rates and fees
• Seek and manage funding opportunities and grants
• Communicate regularly with families through newsletters and meetings
• Conduct tours and interviews with prospective families
• Encourage parent involvement through events and quarterly meetings
• Prepare and present reports to church leadership and governing boards
• Collaborate with church leadership on program planning and oversight

Qualifications

• Meet all Lead Teacher requirements
• Minimum of six months’ experience after meeting Lead Teacher qualifications
• Completion of at least two credits or three CEUs in Day Care Administration
• Completion of at least two additional credits or three CEUs in approved early childhood education categories

Pay

$50,874.86 - $61,268.65 per year
