Director of Physician Relations

About the Role

The Director of Provider Relations will create and lead an effective retention strategy to improve physician and APP satisfaction, reduce turnover, and ensure the long-term sustainability of the medical workforce at Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH). This role reports directly to the VP of Physician Recruitment.

Responsibilities

• Assess physician and APP satisfaction through surveys, personal interviews, one-on-one meetings, and feedback mechanisms.
• Identify causes of turnover and develop targeted interventions.
• Create programs for professional growth, mentorship, and work-life balance.
• Manage the collegial onboarding process.
• Collaborate with leadership to address systemic issues affecting provider retention.
• Establish and lead a System Provider Engagement Committee.
• Monitor retention metrics and report progress to executive leadership.
• Review contract expirations and manage extension addendums.
• Travel as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or MHA preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in healthcare.

Skills

• In-depth knowledge of provider practices, retention strategy, and provider engagement.
