Director of Physician and Provider Relations
About the role
This role leads the organization's physician outreach and referral development strategy across NC, AZ, MD, and NJ. This role oversees a team of Physician Liaisons and drives referral growth through strategic provider engagement, healthcare partnerships, and market activation.
Responsibilities
- Lead provider outreach strategy and referral development across NC, AZ, MD, and NJ, including for new center openings and expansion markets
- Develop territory-based outreach plans to maximize referral growth, market penetration, and provider engagement
- Establish outreach standards and relationship management processes that ensure consistency across all markets
- Identify opportunities for strategic healthcare partnerships, referral expansion, and community integration
- Partner with executive leadership on provider growth strategies and market development priorities
- Directly manage, coach, and develop Physician Liaisons across multiple states through structured performance management and ongoing professional development
- Set clear performance expectations, productivity standards, and referral growth goals for outreach teams
- Recruit, onboard, and train Physician Liaisons to ensure operational consistency and outreach effectiveness
- Maintain field visibility through ride-alongs, territory reviews, CRM audits, and performance monitoring
- Foster a high-accountability, relationship-driven culture focused on outcomes and community impact
- Collaborate with leadership on outreach priorities, resource allocation, and strategic initiatives
- Drive referral pipeline growth through relationships with physicians, healthcare systems, schools, early intervention programs, and community organizations
- Partner with Intake and Operations to improve referral responsiveness, provider communication, and conversion outcomes
- Monitor referral trends and market opportunities to identify growth strategies and close operational gaps
- Support market activation activities including grand openings, CEU events, provider appreciation events, and community outreach
- Own outreach KPIs including referral growth, provider engagement, market penetration, conversion rates, and outreach ROI
- Utilize CRM systems to track outreach activity, provider relationships, referral trends, and territory performance across all markets
- Develop reporting dashboards and deliver strategic updates and recommendations to executive leadership
- Evaluate outreach investments to ensure effective resource allocation and measurable business impact
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Healthcare Administration, Business, Communications, Public Health, or related field required
- 3+ years of experience in physician liaison, provider relations, healthcare outreach, or business development
- Minimum of 2+ years managing field-based outreach or business development teams
- Experience in healthcare, pediatric services, behavioral health, ABA therapy, autism services, or multi-site healthcare organizations strongly preferred
- Proven ability to build provider referral networks and strategic healthcare partnerships
- Strong leadership, communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
- Experience analyzing referral data, KPIs, CRM systems, and outreach performance metrics
- Able to manage multi-state outreach initiatives and travel regularly between markets
- Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and marketing/reporting tools

Pay
A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position is $90,000-$115,000 per year. There are numerous factors taken into consideration in determining the actual offered rate of pay, including but not limited to: job-related qualifications, experience, skills, education, geographic location, and consideration of internal and experience equity.
Schedule
This position is based in New Jersey, with core working hours of 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM and an expectation of on-site presence at a clinic location at least twice per month. The role also requires frequent travel across North Carolina, Arizona, Maryland, and New Jersey.
