About the role

The Emergency Care Center (ECC) Director is responsible for maintaining the efficient functioning of designated nursing unit(s) on a twenty-four hour basis. The ECC Director is responsible for initiating, guiding, and directing the coordination of services provided by the designated nursing unit(s). Functions as a resource person for supervisory staff members and assists in necessary education of individual members of nursing staff. Assumes responsibility for the overall quality of nursing care provided by specified unit(s). Makes decisions regarding patient care activities in area of responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains the efficient functioning of designated nursing unit(s) on a twenty-four hour basis.
  • Initiates, guides, and directs the coordination of services provided by the designated nursing unit(s).
  • Functions as a resource person for supervisory staff members and assists in necessary education of individual members of nursing staff.
  • Affirms responsibility for the overall quality of nursing care provided by specified unit(s).
  • Makes decisions regarding patient care activities in area of responsibility.
  • Oversight of the departmental budget and management of staff.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years nursing practice with emphasis on leadership and management experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years nursing management, preferably in a critical care or emergency center setting.

Qualifications

  • Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse.
  • American Heart Association BLS required.
  • Advance Cardiac Life Support, PALS or ENPC within 6 months of employment.
  • TNCC within 18 months of hire and must remain current in these certifications.

  • Computer skills.
  • Basic finance knowledge.
  • Basic typing skills.
