About the Role

The Director serves as a nursing leader for Long Term Care in the Rochester Regional Health system. This role is responsible for leading nursing services and nursing practice in accordance with the purpose, vision, and values of Rochester Regional Health. The role oversees the overall management and daily coordination of nursing operations, goal setting, talent management, fiscal nursing operations, and adherence to regulatory standards. The Director collaborates with facility, divisional, and system leaders on quality, financial, resident satisfaction, recruitment, retention, and other initiatives. This individual implements the vision of an integrated healthcare delivery system, stewards nursing care resources, and fosters an environment that promotes resident advocacy, clinical competence, and accountability for resident outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Talent Management: Recruit and retain talent to support the aligned business area. Foster a team-based environment that collaborates across disciplines for continuous improvement and engagement. Monitor and recognize performance, support professional development, and provide operational guidance. Maintain visibility within the facility through rounding and participation in activities. Encourage staff participation in feedback tools (Employee Engagement & Safety Survey) and develop plans to address feedback. Ensure compliance with HR processes, including employee evaluations, position control, and Workday functions. Support partnerships for student rotations/placements.
  • Operations and Finance: Develop, maintain, and manage staffing levels to support clinical care. Monitor and manage variances in clinical, regulatory, and financial operations. Partner with administration to achieve financial stewardship through budget management. Follow system and divisional guidelines on payroll, incentives, and staffing grids. Collaborate with medical, professional, and support service leaders to coordinate nursing care programs. Support the MDS process to ensure adequate clinical documentation for reimbursement and quality measure outcomes. Develop and implement nursing and patient care policies/procedures. Manage nursing supply and expense mitigation opportunities.
  • Quality & Safety: Execute and sustain quality initiatives across nursing and care services. Develop programs to monitor the quality of nursing care, operations, and outcomes. Coordinate QAPI plans and continuous quality improvement initiatives with facility and divisional leaders, including survey preparation. Ensure robust QAPI/auditing schedules for clinical and regulatory compliance. Identify trends in clinical outcomes and develop improvement plans. Participate in programs supporting people and care process development. Maintain and grow practice standards to improve nursing care, experience, and satisfaction. Respond timely to resident, staff, and family concerns. Partner with physicians, providers, and care teams to meet or exceed care goals. Facilitate program development to improve clinical care. Manage errors through the Just Culture philosophy.
  • Regulatory: Assess and recommend organizational structures for nursing care services to ensure conformity with policies, procedures, and applicable laws/regulations. Coordinate with the Administrator to ensure facility investigations comply with NYS DOH and CMS regulations. Lead or participate in regulatory body surveys or audits. Drive process improvements focused on care delivery and risk management. Provide leadership to ensure compliance with licensing, regulatory, and accrediting agencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor in Nursing required.
  • 2 years of nursing leadership experience required.
  • 2 years of nursing experience required; preferably in long-term care, rehabilitation, or complex care.
  • Registered in NYS as a licensed registered nurse professional required.
  • Basic Life Support certification by American Heart Association required.

Physical Requirements

Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires frequent walking, standing, or squatting.

Pay

Pay Range: $110,000.00 - $150,000.00

Schedule

8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday, with on-call requirements.
