About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Nursing (DON) to lead clinical operations at an approximately 100-bed skilled nursing facility in Duncan, OK. This leadership role oversees all nursing services, ensuring exceptional resident care, maintaining regulatory compliance, and developing a strong, accountable clinical team. The ideal candidate is a hands-on clinical leader with a proven ability to improve clinical outcomes, support and mentor staff, and foster a positive culture in a fast-paced long-term care environment.
Responsibilities
- Clinical Leadership
- Provide leadership and oversight for all nursing operations, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.
- Ensure delivery of high-quality, resident-centered care.
- Monitor clinical outcomes and implement quality improvement initiatives.
- Promote accountability, teamwork, and clinical excellence throughout the nursing department.
- Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and Oklahoma regulations governing skilled nursing facilities.
- Lead survey preparedness and oversee state survey activities.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adherence to all applicable standards.
- Staff Management & Development
- Recruit, hire, onboard, and develop nursing staff.
- Maintain appropriate staffing levels and scheduling.
- Coach, mentor, and evaluate team members while addressing performance issues when necessary.
- Foster employee engagement and retention through supportive leadership.
- Quality Assurance & Risk Management
- Lead Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives.
- Oversee infection prevention and control programs.
- Monitor incident reporting, risk management, and clinical quality metrics.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures that improve resident outcomes.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Partner closely with the Facility Administrator and interdisciplinary team.
- Build positive relationships with residents, families, physicians, and referral partners.
- Serve as the clinical leader and resource for the facility.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Oklahoma license or eligibility for licensure).
- Minimum of three (3) years of nursing leadership experience in a skilled nursing facility, with Director of Nursing or Assistant Director of Nursing experience strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of long-term care regulations, survey processes, and clinical operations.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Passion for providing exceptional resident care and building high-performing teams.
