Director of Nursing DON

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall functions of the Nursing Services Department.
• Ensure the highest degree of quality care is provided to residents.
• Develop and implement comprehensive care plans for each resident.
• Prepare and plan the Nursing Services Department’s budget for equipment, supplies, and labor.
• Interview and screen residents for admission to the facility.
• Greet new admissions and escort them to their rooms.
• Ensure proper record keeping by physicians and report problem areas.
• Implement corrective actions based on reported issues.
• Provide direct nursing care as necessary.

Qualifications

• Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing and currently licensed by the State.
• BSN preferred.
• Must show ability to speak, read, and write in English, in a legible and understandable manner.
• Knowledgeable of general, rehabilitative, and restorative nursing and medical practices and procedures and laws, regulations, and guidelines governing long-term care.
• Positive attitude toward the elderly.
• Previous experience in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other health care facility, with three years Long Term Care experience being ideal.

Pay

Placement within the wage range for this position is determined by years of experience, qualifications, and demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions.
