More than 30 Starting Salary Range $80,000 Description We are looking for a Facility Director who provides leadership, oversight, and hands-on support for the care, safety, security, and effective operation of St. Stephen’s parish, school, and cemetery facilities. This person works collaboratively with parish and school leadership, staff, ministries, vendors, and community members. This position ensures that buildings, grounds, equipment, custodial services, maintenance systems, and related projects are managed well and supports St. Stephen’s mission and provides a welcoming, safe, and well-maintained environment to all who come to Seek, Love, and Serve Jesus Christ. Representative Responsibilities Oversee the daily operation, maintenance, repair, custodial and janitorial needs, safety, and appearance of St. Stephen’s parish, school, and cemetery grounds.Provide leadership, supervision, training, accountability, and work direction for custodial staff.Evaluate custodial and maintenance staffing; review work expectations and performance regularly; ensure standards and procedures are followed.Plan, coordinate, and supervise repair, maintenance, custodial and janitorial needs, room set up, grounds, and capital improvement projects.Develop and maintain effective vendor and contractor relationships; secure bids, oversee contractor work.Manage and monitor maintenance budgets, supplies, preventive maintenance plans, short- and long-term capital needs, and cost-reduction efforts.Manage energy and utility usage and recommend initiatives to reduce expenses and increase efficiency.Support parish and school special events or special liturgical celebrations by coordinating maintenance staffing, setup needs, facility readiness, and schedule custodial support as needed.Monitor facility systems, HVAC software, boiler indicators, and equipment to assess operating conditions and identify issues or preventive measures.Create or implement and regularly update maintenance standard operating procedures.Lead and coordinate a “hard hat” volunteer committee to help with projects.Promote continuous improvement, effective operations, teamwork, accountability, positive morale, and high-quality service to St. Stephen’s staff, members, students, parishioners, and guests.Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal laws, regulatory agencies, safety standards, inspection requirements, and Archdiocesan or insurance-related expectations. Prepare for and participate in inspections.Be intuitive to safety measures or situations that may affect employees, parishioners, students, guests, or property; follow required protocols for incident and injury documentation.Manage and make recommendations regarding the security of the parish, school, and cemetery; ensure proper lock-up, access, and security procedures are followed.Be present, prepared, and punctual for scheduled hours, assigned responsibilities, and required events; participate in staff meetings, events, and other activities appropriate to the role. Skills Model self-initiative, sound judgment, professionalism, and a service-oriented approach while helping staff develop the same standards.Ability to lead, support, and motivate custodial and maintenance staff while ensuring departmental goals are met.Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and related tools used for HVAC management and other monitoring requirements.Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work professionally and effectively with parish leadership, school staff, vendors, parishioners, and guests.Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy campus environment. Mental and Physical Demands Assess and prioritize campus, facility, and grounds needs in a timely and practical manner.Respond to after-hours emergency calls and urgent maintenance issues, as needed.Physical ability to perform maintenance-related duties, including standing, walking, bending, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 75 pounds.Required pre-employment physical.Successful completion of Archdiocese requirements, including background check, personal safety training, and Code of Conduct expectations Qualifications Three to five years of experience in facilities management, maintenance supervision, or a related leadership role, preferred.Demonstrated ability to coordinate maintenance projects, work with vendors and contractors, and manage capital improvement projects.Strong working knowledge of building systems, preventive maintenance practices, equipment operations, grounds care, safety procedures, and custodial operations. Education Technical school completion, facilities-related coursework, or equivalent related training, preferred.Maintain or obtain a low-pressure boiler license.
