Director of Land Acquisition
About the role
As the Director of Land Acquisition, you are responsible for finding, acquiring, and prioritizing land acquisitions for the Division. You will manage land purchases through the entitlement process, provide information for and participate in the coordination of land acquisition packages (proformas) for corporate approval, and work directly with senior leadership to seek land in areas and price ranges consistent with the Division's goals and market survey data. The focus of this position is on land deals that optimize return on investment and minimize risk to the company.
Responsibilities
- Strong land negotiation and contract skills.
- Computer and financial analysis proficiencies, along with the ability to utilize web-based software to efficiently seek out land opportunities in desirable locations.
- Understand market and industry trends.

- Connect with people and develop and maintain professional relationships.
- Strong verbal and written communication, with the ability to take complex concepts and communicate accurately and persuasively.

- Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe applications with particular strength in Excel.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a business-related field.
- Minimum 7 years of proven land experience in acquisition, contract negotiation, and relationship building.
- Prior management experience.
- Home building or related construction/real estate industry experience preferred.
- Exceptional communication skills—both written and verbal.
- Comfortable presenting ideas and solutions to leadership and key business partners.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills and time management skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships.
- Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
