Director of Impact Center - Kansas City

About the Role

The Director of Impact Center will provide strategic leadership, operational oversight, and represent Cooperative Extension within the county. Responsibilities include designing and implementing county-specific strategies, managing staff and budgets, ensuring compliance with university and USDA-NIFA, securing funding, and engaging stakeholders. Additionally, the role involves designing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in one of the following areas: agriculture and natural resources; community development; family and consumer sciences; and 4-H Youth Development.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership (20%): Develops the county plan of work aligned with organizational goals to enhance program growth and impact.
• Program Development and Evaluation (10%): Design, implement, and evaluate educational programs.
• Operations & Compliance (20%): Oversees daily operations, ensuring programs are delivered within budget and comply with university and USDA-NIFA requirements.
• External Representation & Funding (15%): Builds relationships with government officials, partners, and donors to secure funding and enhance the county Extension office.
• Human Resource Management (20%): Recruits, leads, develops high-performing teams, and evaluates Extension educators.
• Financial & Risk Management (15%): Manages the Extension office budget and allocates fiscal resources.

Requirements

• Earned bachelor's degree in agriculture, community development, education, educational administration/leadership, and/or related field, plus seven years of experience.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

• Earned master's degree in agriculture, community development, education, educational administration/leadership, and/or organizational leadership, plus three years of experience.

• Strong understanding of the local political, social, and economic environment.
• Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills.

Physical Demands

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Prolonged periods of standing and walking, sometimes outdoors.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Position involves occasional travel and evening or weekend work.
