About the role
Spatial Front, Inc. (SFI), a two-time USA Today Top Workplaces awardee and Washington Top Workplaces honoree, is seeking a hands-on Director of Human Resources to support the launch and growth of a new business unit.
Responsibilities
- Stand up and lead the HR function for a new business unit from the ground up.
- Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, workflows, and best practices.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to leadership on employee relations, organizational development, workforce planning, and performance management.
- Handle complex and sensitive personnel matters, including employee conflict resolution, investigations, and workplace issues.
- Provide hands-on HR support across the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, offboarding, employee relations, and compliance.
- Design and manage onboarding processes to ensure a smooth and effective employee experience.
- Track personnel clearances and partner with internal stakeholders to support compliance, workforce planning, and program staffing needs.
- Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Support recruiting and talent acquisition efforts as needed.
- Partner with managers to provide guidance on performance issues, employee development, and HR-related matters.
- Create scalable HR systems and documentation to support growth and operational excellence.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. May substitute additional equivalent professional experience in lieu of a degree.
- 10+ years of progressive human resources experience, including senior-level HR leadership responsibility.
- Demonstrated experience building or scaling HR processes, policies, and infrastructure for a growing organization, program, or business unit.
- Strong employee relations experience, including conflict resolution, investigations, and management of sensitive personnel matters.
- Experience supporting onboarding, compliance, and HR operations in a hands-on capacity.
- Experience tracking personnel clearances and supporting cleared staff populations.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
- Experience with HRIS systems and other HR technologies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Desired Skills
- Professional HR certification such as SPHR, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SHRM-CP.
- Experience in a government contracting environment.
- Knowledge of federal contractor compliance requirements, including OFCCP, E-Verify, and related obligations.
- Experience supporting a startup environment, new business line, or organizational build-out.
- Able to balance strategic leadership with day-to-day execution in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience leveraging AI to transform HR from a process-heavy support function into a data-driven, strategic decision engine.
