About the role
The McMinnville School District is seeking an extraordinary leader to serve as the next Director of Human Resources. This role requires a strategic and collaborative HR leader with experience in staffing, contract negotiations, and HR policies.
Responsibilities
- Develops and recommends District policies; establishes personnel practices and procedures; administers such policies, practices, and procedures including hiring, assignment, performance evaluation, retirement, transfer, leave of absence, termination, and others.
- Serves as a member of the District's Executive Leadership Team with high levels of accountability and decision-making responsibilities.
- Plans, directs, and supervises recruitment activities for all district positions in accordance with equal employment opportunity policies.
- Establishes and maintains a system of personnel records in compliance with regulatory agency requirements, including the preparation and submission of required personnel reports, to meet the district and employee needs for such records including counseling of employees on employment status.
- Plans, directs and administers wage and salary administration programs, including salary schedule structuring, employee classification, position descriptions and specifications, performance reviews, etc.
- Supervises employee benefit programs.
- Plays a key role in labor relations activities for the district including collective bargaining negotiations.
- Administers collective bargaining contracts and agreements.
- Supervises the selection, hiring, and training of human resources department staff.
- Evaluates staff performance and recommends salary increases.
- Plans, directs, and supervises administration of evaluation systems to measure employee performance.
- Plans, directs and supervises assigned area of the district staff development program.
- Plans, directs and supervises assignment of staff to schools.
- Responds to parent/patron complaints and concerns.
- Meets with employees to resolve complaints, difficulties and other matters related to employment conditions.
- Supports the Superintendent in administrative efforts; interprets the Superintendent's ideas and decisions to staff and public.
- Interprets policies, regulations and rulings to parents, staff and public.
- Aids the Superintendent in the development and management of the personnel budget and staffing plan.
- Collaborates with colleges and universities to coordinate placement of student teachers.
- Serves as the District Title IX coordinator.
- Assists in planning school safety plans, programs and procedures.
- Acts in designated areas in absence of the Superintendent.
Requirements
- Master's degree or equivalent training.
- Five years of responsibility in staffing and hiring, contract negotiations and contract management, development of HR policies and procedures, preferred.
- Prior K-12 building administrator and/or teaching experience, preferred.
- Valid Oregon Administrator license, preferred.
- Ability to work cooperatively and harmoniously as a team member.
- Ability to plan, organize, and work without close supervision.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with District personnel and the public.
- Maintains confidential information and the privacy of District staff, students, and families.
- Computer skills to include use of word processing programs, database programs and the Google Suite of products.
Qualifications
- Master's degree or equivalent training.
- Five years of responsibility in staffing and hiring, contract negotiations and contract management, development of HR policies and procedures, preferred.
- Prior K-12 building administrator and/or teaching experience, preferred.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $159,266 - $174,895 annually. The salary is determined based on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
The Director of Human Resources works a standard Monday through Friday schedule.
