About the role
The Director of Housekeeping at Kimpton Hotels is responsible for overseeing all aspects of housekeeping operations, ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of the hotel's facilities. This role requires strong leadership skills and a commitment to the Kimpton culture.
Responsibilities
- Select, staff, recruit, hire, and train qualified housekeeping candidates.
- In charge of scheduling all regular and irregular cleanings, including room carpets, upholstery, and draperies, as well as annual or semiannual deep cleaning projects and window cleaning.
- Responsible for the cleanliness of all common areas, meeting spaces, and public areas of the hotel.
- Review MOD reports for room moves, guest issues, and special requests.
- Prepare room assignments, distribute keys, and assign floors for all housekeeping staff each morning.
- Communicate with the Front Desk, Sales, and Maintenance Departments to ensure a high-quality product and service level is delivered to guests.
- Aid in guest requests as required.
- Review outside laundry facility servicing to ensure quality, undamaged linens, and consistent delivery, while adhering to budgetary guidelines.
- Review and update systems and supplies purchased for guest room accommodations using budgetary guidelines.
- Train by instruction and practice, both formally and on-the-job; and update staff on any new laws or regulations necessary to safely perform their tasks.
- Maintain good performance and efficiency levels by setting quality standards following hotel procedures and policies.
- Control all expenditures relating to Housekeeping, including labor, guest room supplies, and all cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Prepare an annual housekeeping budget.
- Manage all employees in the Housekeeping Department.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in hospitality or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of management experience in the boutique hotel industry.
- Basic knowledge of MS Office.
- A flexible schedule, capable of working evenings, weekends, and holidays.
