Our Tranquilo Golf Course is renowned among Orlando golf courses for its serene landscapes and challenging play. Unique in Central Florida for its varying elevations, abundant wildlife and protected wetlands, this picturesque course is a Certified Audubon Sanctuary. The Tom Fazio-designed 18-hole course is a par-71, with 6,901 yards and four sets of tees to accommodate all skill levels.

About the role

The Director of Golf & Resort Landscape Operations will play a key role in the success of our resort/private membership at the club. This role centers on delivering strong operational results that support the club’s overall strategy and membership growth goals. The position demands creativity, quick problem-solving, and timely decision-making to ensure smooth daily operations while maintaining high course playability year-round.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively on multiple levels, including presentations, teaching, and mentoring coworkers.
• Apply agronomic practices for golf course and landscape maintenance.
• Work closely with the Superintendent to establish agronomy programs, special projects, and renovations.
• Support and guide the Head Mechanic in the care and maintenance of equipment.
• Exhibit strong financial acumen by creating and operating within a budget.
• Supervise and participate in fertilizer and pesticide applications, including calibration and documentation.
• Maintain chemical storage and mixing areas in compliance with county, state, and federal regulations.
• Manage payroll and operating budget.
• Coordinate with Golf Operations staff on tournaments, weather-related closures, and special requests.
• Hire, train, and supervise maintenance staff.
• Oversee seeding, fertilizing, topdressing, soil conditioning, watering, and pest/weed control for the golf course and practice facility.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, OSHA rules, and regulations related to chemical/fertilizer storage, disposal, employee safety, and public safety.
• Create and adapt daily, weekly, and monthly work schedules.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy or related field.
• Must have or the ability to obtain a State of Florida Pesticide Applicator License.
• Thorough understanding of business principles, financial accountability, and agronomy practices.
• CGCS (Certified Golf Course Superintendent) preferred.
• Seasoned experience in resort landscape operations and private golf membership.
• Proven effective planning and communication skills.
• TEAM mentality with a willingness to grow, learn, and advance in the turfgrass industry.
• Self-motivated, lead by example, and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to analyze and solve problems while handling multiple duties under pressure.
• Aptitude for administrative and executive responsibilities, including effective oral and written communication.
• Minimum of 2 years as a Golf Course Superintendent or Director of Golf Course Landscape Operations or equivalent.
• Two or four-year degree in Turfgrass Management or completion of a Turf Management-related certificate program preferred.
• Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
• Fluent in English and legal work authorization in the United States.
