Role Description
The Director of Financial Aid is a full-time, on-site role based in San Diego, CA. This role oversees the daily operations of the financial aid office, including the administration of federal, state, and institutional aid programs in compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Led and supported financial aid staff, assigned responsibilities, and monitored performance to ensure timely and accurate processing of student aid packages.
- Reviewed student files, verified eligibility, resolved complex financial aid issues, collaborated with enrollment and student services teams, and prepared reports for institutional leadership.
- Developed and refined policies and procedures, provided training and guidance to staff, and delivered clear, customer-focused communication to students and families regarding financial aid options and requirements.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in Financial Aid Administration, including knowledge of federal and state regulations and institutional policies.
- Experience with Enrollment Management, working closely with admissions and student services to support recruitment, retention, and student success.
- Strong Supervisory Skills, including team leadership, staff development, performance management, and workflow coordination.
- Background in Finance or related disciplines, with the ability to interpret financial data, manage budgets, and ensure accurate record-keeping.
- Proven Customer Service skills, with a commitment to responsive, empathetic, and clear communication to diverse student populations.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Business, Finance, Education, or Public Administration; advanced degree or relevant certifications are a plus.
- Experience working in a post-secondary or vocational education setting, preferably in a leadership role within financial aid.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and adherence to deadlines.
- Proficiency with financial aid management systems, student information systems, and standard office software.
- Ability to work on-site in San Diego, CA, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional campus teams.
