Director of Financial Aid

About the role

The Director of Financial Aid is responsible, primarily, for providing seamless operations and superior service to financial aid applicants, their families, and members of the university community. As a highly visible representative of Marshall University, the Director of Financial Aid establishes procedures and guidelines regarding the effective and efficient distribution of financial aid among applicants and enrolled students, while meeting the institution’s enrollment, budget and net tuition revenue goals.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing and administering an annual financial aid program composed of institutional funds, Title IV aid, and State grants and loans to a diverse population of Undergraduate, Graduate, PhD and professional students.
• Overseeing the smooth and efficient operation of the Student Financial Assistance team, including training of staff.
• Maintaining currency on Federal, State and Institutional regulations.
• Engaging new and continuing students in the Financial Aid Process.
• Assisting in aid leveraging and retention plans.

Qualifications

• A Master's degree in Business Administration, Education, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in financial aid administration.
• Experience working with a diverse student body.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders, including students, parents, faculty, and staff.
• Knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
