Job Summary
In this critical role, you will establish manufacturing finance processes, implement cost and project accounting systems, and develop financial models and forecasts. This position demands a practical operator who is comfortable working directly in spreadsheets and accounting platforms, while building the tools and processes necessary to support rapid expansion. Collaborating closely with the COO, leadership team, and fractional CFO, you will help prepare the organization for future growth and a seamless transition to a full-time CFO role.
Responsibilities
- Making and maintaining financial models and forecasts
- Developing annual budgets and rolling forecasts
- Creating pro forma financial projections for new programs and initiatives
- Providing leadership with clear financial performance metrics
- Evaluating and implementing financial systems, including ERP platforms
- Improving financial data structure, chart of accounts, and reporting processes
- Integrating accounting systems with operational data systems
- Establishing scalable financial processes and internal controls
- Enhancing working capital management, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory
- Supporting pricing, quoting, and margin analysis for new projects
- Partnering with operations leadership to ensure financial discipline in project execution
- Strategic Finance Support: Assisting in preparing financial materials for lenders or potential investors, supporting leadership with financial modeling and capital planning, and working with the fractional CFO on strategic initiatives
- Leading the scaling of the finance team as the organization grows
- Assisting with compliance tasks such as reporting and tracking insurance and 1099 documentation, ensuring employee expense documentation complies with policies, and managing tax and year-end reporting requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 10+ years of progressive experience in finance or accounting
- Strong background in manufacturing finance, cost accounting, or project accounting
- Proven experience implementing financial systems or ERP platforms
- Advanced financial modeling and Excel skills
- Demonstrated ability to build financial processes within growing organizations
Nice to Have Skills
- Experience in engineer-to-order or project-based manufacturing
- Experience supporting capital raising or strategic planning initiatives
- CPA or MBA credentials
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field, with significant industry-specific experience
- Extensive background in manufacturing finance roles, particularly in fast-paced growth environments
