About the role

The Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing and managing the financial operations of a plastics company in South Chicago, IL. Reporting to the CEO, President, and VP of Operations, the role ensures the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial processes, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. The Director of Finance collaborates with senior leadership to drive financial strategy, enhance operational efficiency, and support business growth within the manufacturing sector.

Responsibilities

  • Driving the financial planning of the company by analyzing its performance and risks
  • Retaining constant awareness of the company’s financial position and acting to proactively prevent problems
  • Manage and monitor the company’s finance IT system
  • Oversee all financial operations and direct corporate financial planning and structure
  • Cook up and analyze the financial performance to Management (financial performance, cost structures, projections and other special projects as required)
  • Prepare short and long-term financial forecasts of financial performance for use with internal management and external parties
  • Oversee audit and tax functions, coordinate activities with outside audit firms and review firm’s performance
  • Lead the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors
  • Develop, implement and maintain accounting and administrative policies and procedures for a wide-ranging set of activities including financial accounting and reporting and other corporate policies
  • Ensure the preparation of timely and accurate financial reports, including monthly, quarterly and annual reports
  • Cook up the month-end and year-end close processes
  • Oversee cash flow management and develop strategies to optimize working capital
  • Manage financial risks associated with cash flow, liquidity, and debt
  • Implement processes to ensure efficient use of financial resources
  • Maintain inventory valuation and ensure accurate cost allocation
  • Manage and mentor the finance team, providing guidance, training and development opportunities
  • Foster a high-performance culture within the finance department
  • Proficiency in all aspects of corporate accounting and all pertinent GAAP, SEC rules and regulations including Sarbanes-Oxley compliance

Qualifications

  • Must have experience with all key areas mentioned. Public company experience and M&A experience preferred but not required. Experience in growth stage company required.
  • An MBA and/or CPA is required.
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial software.
  • Excellent knowledge of financial regulations, tax laws and accounting standards.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across departments.
  • A passion for getting things done, and an appreciation for details. A belief in continual process improvement is essential.

Pay

$130,000 - $150,000 per year
