About the Role

As the Director of Field Operations and Fleet Reliability, you will own the end-to-end execution of our field service delivery and equipment deployment. You'll lead our internal Field Service team and manage contracted install crews, ensuring seamless collaboration with Customer Success, Supply Chain, and Engineering. Your focus is on delivering best-in-class service: equipment installed correctly, hardware staying online, and tickets resolved promptly. You'll manage this department with P&L discipline, balancing cost neutrality with high-quality service that drives upsell opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Field Service & Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and scale the internal Field Service team, fostering accountability and customer-first execution. Ensure timely, high-quality ticket resolution, prioritizing based on urgency. Build and own the triage process.
  • Installation Management: Manage third-party install crews, ensuring proper training, cost control, and adherence to SOPs. Guarantee installations are done right the first time and meet SLAs for large enterprise deals.
  • Fleet Reliability: Proactively monitor and maintain hardware functionality, partnering with Engineering to address systemic issues. Ensure compliance with installation and service standards.
  • Cost Management & Revenue: Manage the Field Operations budget with P&L discipline, optimizing resource allocation. Train the field team to identify and qualify upsell opportunities for the sales team.
  • Cross-Functional Orchestration: Collaborate with Customer Success, Supply Chain, and Engineering to set and maintain reliability standards.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years in field service, field operations, or fleet/network operations, including experience managing a field team or managing managers.
  • Proven track record leading internal service teams and external contractor/vendor networks.
  • Financial acumen, with experience managing budgets and driving cost efficiencies.
  • Commercial mindset, understanding how service translates into sales opportunities.
  • Fluency with operational data, SLAs, KPIs, and root-cause analysis.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, with a focus on process improvement.
  • Experience managing geographically dispersed field workforces, preferably in rural/remote areas.
  • Ability to operate in a matrix environment, driving outcomes across non-direct reports.
  • Hands-on experience with connected hardware or IoT device fleets preferred; Ag Equipment, AgTech, or related industry experience a plus.
  • Willingness to travel 15–30% to field and client sites.
