Director of Family Relations, Alpha - $200,000/year USD

About the role

This position exists at the heart of trust. You will be the individual families turn to when something feels wrong, when they seek perspective, or when they wish to share matters of importance.

Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of every family relationship on campus, cultivating trust that deepens over time
• Identify potential concerns before they escalate and address them with discretion, efficiency, and solid judgment
• Ensure high visibility during critical moments: morning arrival, afternoon departure, and intentionally designed parent gatherings
• Facilitate ongoing, substantive discussions about Alpha's AI-driven approach with highly analytical, technology-oriented families
• Create and refine community programming that fosters belonging, generates advocacy, and builds referral traction

Requirements

• Located in or capable of daily commute to Palo Alto, Piedmont, San Francisco, La Jolla, or Los Angeles
• 5+ years of direct experience working with UHNW individuals or families in private schools, private equity, family offices, or elite service settings
• Demonstrated capability to manage sophisticated, high-stakes relationships with discretion and sound judgment
• Daily, active use of AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity) with the capacity to articulate AI strengths, risks, and constraints clearly
• Commanding presence and communication approach that builds credibility with highly educated, demanding families
• Knowledge of private or independent school environments, gained professionally or personally
• Flexibility for early morning, late afternoon, and occasional evening or weekend commitments

Qualifications

• Pre-existing connections within local private school or UHNW networks
• Background working alongside founders, investors, or technology executives
• Background in building communities or programming that generates organic referrals
• Background in early-stage or rapidly scaling organizations where uncertainty is prevalent
• Skill in translating sophisticated technical subjects into clear, assured dialogue
