About the role
Royal Switchgear, an MPS Company, is a leader in engineering, design, and manufacturing of critical electrical infrastructure solutions. We are seeking a Director of Engineering to drive operational performance through planning, organizing, and directing the Engineering departments.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct the actions of an onsite engineering department as well as a 3rd party engineering team in India.
- Communicate with other departments and vendors on technical matters as required.
- Provide support for Sales, Operations, Quality Assurance, and Manufacturing Engineering.
- Design products based on interpretation of IEEE specifications, customer specifications, and acceptable manufacturing processes.
- Provide supervision and development of Engineering personnel.
- Assist in business planning.
- Review or develop BOMs to meet customer product requirements.
- Train RSMC personnel and sales agents regarding product design.
- Maintain good working relationships with peers in all departments.
- Specify and document requirements for materials, processes, and products, including all Engineering documentation (drawings, certified test reports, computer work documentation, etc.).
- Properly use, care for, and maintain acquisition of tools, instruments, factory equipment, test equipment, and office equipment required to perform job tasks.
- Maintain extensive internal contact with all departments, as well as contact with agents, customers, vendors, and IEEE committees as directed, including technical presentations.
- Perform all other assigned duties.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering from an accredited school.
- 5+ years of relevant business experience and 3+ years of supervisory experience.
- Self-motivation with a positive, adaptive, and success-seeking mentality.
- Working knowledge of Engineering principles, IEEE specifications, and test methods.
- Communication and interpersonal skills.
- Computer hardware and software experience in CAD and CNC programming.
- Professional Engineering certification is desirable but not required.
- MBA is desirable but not required.
- Timely and well-organized communicator.
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office.
- Experience with ERP systems; INFOR SyteLine is a plus.
- Power and/or electrical system knowledge.

- Strong computer skills in Excel, Word, and MS Office suite.
- Strong analytical skills with a high-level of attention to detail and business process.
- Strong skills in developing and presenting performance metrics reports.
- Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret data.
- Ability to prepare and present comprehensive reports.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, including preparing and presenting information.
- Ability to work independently and be self-directed as needed.
- WMS experience and knowledge preferred.
- ERP system knowledge (JD Edwards preferred).
