Director of Development for Athletics (Administrator II)

About the role

Join Sonoma State University as the Director of Development for Athletics. The university is launching a search for a highly motivated individual to serve as a vital component of the educational experience, emphasizing academic achievement alongside athletic success. The position will manage and cultivate a portfolio of major gift prospects and fundraising efforts to support the Intercollegiate Athletics Program.

Responsibilities

• Identify, qualify, cultivate, and solicit potential donors for the Athletics Program.
• Organize and provide effective communication with donors and potential donors.
• Steward alumni and other individual prospects, sponsors, and major donors.
• Cook up and process gifts.
• Recruit, train, and motivate volunteers for the university.
• Conduct other fundraising projects.

Qualifications

• A minimum of four years of experience in successful relationship building with prospects, volunteers, and board members.
• Four years of progressively responsible and applicable management or supervisory experience.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Proven track record of successfully working with individual donors, soliciting and securing gifts.
• Experience in athletic fundraising within a university environment and a strong understanding of university culture and corporate partnerships is preferred.

Salary and Benefits

Starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and is anticipated to be in the range of $8,334 - $8,667 a month. This position is a member of the Management Personnel Plan and serves at the pleasure of the President. This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 15 paid holidays are offered each year.
