Primary Purpose Of Position

The Director of Development drives the strategic vision and execution of comprehensive fundraising efforts for the Department of Athletics while serving as a vital member of the Executive Leadership Team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies that align with the university's strategic goals
  • Manage donor relations and stewardship programs to cultivate and maintain relationships with alumni, foundations, corporations, and other stakeholders
  • Collaborate with athletics staff to identify potential donors and secure major gifts
  • Oversee grant writing and proposal development processes
  • Represent the department at fundraising events and galas
  • Monitor and report on fundraising metrics and outcomes

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, preferably in a collegiate athletics setting
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required; Master's degree preferred
  • Proven track record of successful fundraising campaigns and major gift acquisition
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including public speaking and relationship-building abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Experience with donor management software and databases

Qualifications

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations relevant to fundraising activities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
