Primary Purpose Of Position
The Director of Development drives the strategic vision and execution of comprehensive fundraising efforts for the Department of Athletics while serving as a vital member of the Executive Leadership Team.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement fundraising strategies that align with the university's strategic goals
- Manage donor relations and stewardship programs to cultivate and maintain relationships with alumni, foundations, corporations, and other stakeholders
- Collaborate with athletics staff to identify potential donors and secure major gifts
- Oversee grant writing and proposal development processes
- Represent the department at fundraising events and galas
- Monitor and report on fundraising metrics and outcomes
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, preferably in a collegiate athletics setting
- Bachelor's degree in a related field required; Master's degree preferred
- Proven track record of successful fundraising campaigns and major gift acquisition
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including public speaking and relationship-building abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Experience with donor management software and databases
Qualifications
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations relevant to fundraising activities
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
