About the Role

Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Development, working in concert with the Interim Director of Athletics and the President, the Director of Development for Athletics establishes fundraising strategies and directs and conducts fundraising activities to secure philanthropic support for the Intercollegiate Athletics Program in alignment with Sonoma State University priorities.

Responsibilities

• Identify, qualify, cultivate, and solicit potential donors for the Athletics Program.
• Organize and provide effective communication with donors and potential donors.
• Steward alumni and other individual prospects, sponsors, and major donors.
• Coordinate gift processing.
• Recruit, train, and motivate volunteers for the university.
• Engage in other fundraising projects as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of four years of experience in successful relationship building with prospects, volunteers, and board members.
• Demonstrated aptitude for face-to-face fundraising, including four years of progressively responsible and applicable management and/or supervisory experience.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Proven track record of successfully working with individual donors, soliciting, and securing gifts.
• Experience in designing and implementing successful fundraising strategies.
• Experience in athletic fundraising within a university environment and a strong understanding of university culture and corporate partnerships highly preferred.

Pay

Starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and is anticipated to be in the range of $8,334 - $8,667 a month.
