About the Role

The Division of Advancement at Tarleton State University is seeking a proven fundraiser to serve as the Director of Development for the Dr. Sam Pack College of Business. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Development with guidance from the Vice President for Advancement, the successful candidate will build a comprehensive development program for the College, featuring both annual giving and major gift elements. A core focus will be expanded external engagement, new donor acquisition, and heightened alumni involvement. The position is in-office, located in Stephenville, Texas, with work hours of Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM or as work requirements indicate. The Director serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA).

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Advancement leadership to support and coordinate events and opportunities established by the Office of the President, including:
  • Providing information essential to guest lists and presidential briefings.
  • Supporting operational facets of select events (e.g., President’s Suite for Tarleton State Football/Basketball, Tarleton State University Gala).
  • Identifying sources of support and sponsorship for presidential events.
  • Delivering prompt and professional responses to requests from the Office of the President.
• Evaluate the existing College of Business donor base to identify philanthropic opportunities and execute concentrated prospect research to prioritize the College’s donor portfolio.
• Collaborate with the College of Business dean and leadership to align philanthropic prospects with strategic priorities established by the dean.
• Adhere to Institutional Advancement’s moves-management model to track and demonstrate success in:
  • Solicitations.
  • Gifts closed.
  • Donors engaged, retained, and newly acquired.
• Partner with Advancement Services to conduct prospect research and with the director of foundation relations to pursue foundation funding aligned with approved priorities.
• Serve as lead coordinator for major College of Business events, following direction from the dean and College leadership.
• Team with Advancement’s annual fund and donor relations director to:
  • Develop a best-practice strategy to increase the number of donors to the College at all levels.
  • Leverage the Texan Excellence Fund to expand alumni giving percentages.
  • Establish and deliver consistent, targeted stewardship to maintain donor engagement and incentivize additional giving.
  • Support donor-centric events that yield revenue and personalized experiences for donors.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree preferred.
• Five (5) years of professional fundraising experience, with strong preference given to candidates with higher education fundraising or related experience.

Tarleton State University offers a comprehensive benefits package for full-time and qualifying part-time employees.
