Director of Development

About the role

The Director of Development position is within Southeastern Louisiana University's Vice President of University Advancement. This role provides strategic oversight and management of the development team and directly manages a donor portfolio. The Director directly supervises development staff while identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors and prospects with the capacity to make a leadership ($1,000+), major ($25,000+), and/or planned gift.

Responsibilities

• Provides strategic oversight and management of the development team and directly manages a donor portfolio.
• Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards donors and prospects with the capacity to make a leadership ($1,000+), major ($25,000+), and/or planned gift.
• Directly supervises development staff.
• Works independently to meet individual metrics while leading a team.
• Adept at using various technology applications and CRM systems.
• Willingness to travel and work weekends and evenings as needed.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Five years of demonstrated successful management and fundraising or related experience.

Priorities

• Master’s degree.
• Experience successfully building, sustaining, and enhancing relationships with diverse range of external and internal stakeholders.
• Strong record of managing multiple projects and priorities successfully and under deadlines with an attention to detail.
• Experience in higher education, sales, business development, or related field preferred.
• Direct solicitation of five-figure level gifts desired.

Qualifications

• Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree and five years of demonstrated successful management and fundraising or related experience.

• Ability to lead a team while also working independently to meet individual metrics.
• Adept at using various technology applications and CRM systems.
• Willingness to travel and work weekends and evenings as needed.
