Director of Development

About Us

For 65 years, Horizons has been dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families across Eastern Iowa through programs including Transportation, the Financial Wellness Center, and Meals on Wheels.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement fundraising strategies
• Cultivate donor relationships
• Oversee grant applications and reporting
• Collaborate with the leadership team to set fundraising goals
• Create innovative ways to engage the community in our mission

Allocation of time:

• Donor Pipeline - 50%
• Staffing & Administration - 25%
• Communication & Public Relations - 25%

Schedule

Primarily Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional evening and weekend hours for events and donor meetings.

Requirements

• Skill in building and maintaining positive relationships with donors, community members, and colleagues
• Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
• Strong public speaking and communication skills
• Critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills
• Respect for and ability to work with diverse communities
• Cooperative, dependable work ethic
• High integrity and confidentiality

Must complete a criminal history and child and dependent adult abuse background check. Convictions are assessed by Horizons' Review Team and do not necessarily disqualify a candidate from employment.
