Director of Community Engagement, Alpha - $200,000/year USD

Crossover · Boca Raton, FL · 2 mo ago
Education$200k/yrFull-time

Families who select Alpha have advisors for nearly every aspect of their lives. This is the trusted relationship they haven't had—until now. You will be the person they reach out to when uncertainty arises, when something doesn't feel right, or when they want to share a milestone you'll appreciate. You'll understand each family deeply enough to sense what they need ahead of time—and you'll possess the judgment and poise to address what they bring with discretion, warmth, and seamless professionalism.

Over time, you won't simply be affiliated with their child's school. You'll become woven into the way they navigate this phase of their family's journey. That level of trust isn't built through systems. It's cultivated through presence—consistent, unhurried, and real. You'll be there during morning arrival and afternoon departure, at evening gatherings that carry weight, and in the unscheduled one-on-one exchanges that never appear on a calendar. You'll shape a community families feel invested in protecting, where belonging emerges naturally and referrals occur because the experience justifies them.

Alpha is not a conventional school. Students complete core academics in two hours daily using AI-driven applications, then dedicate the remainder of their time to public speaking, critical thinking, and applied projects. No traditional lectures. No unnecessary assignments. Top 1% outcomes nationwide. The families who opt in are investing in something they value deeply—but conviction requires care. You'll sustain that narrative with each family, through every question, for the duration of their enrollment.

About the role

If advocating for an unconventional approach to discerning skeptics feels like a weight, this position isn't the right match. If it feels like the most compelling dialogue you could engage in, continue reading.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the relationship with every enrolled family—the evolving, meaningful connection that ensures parents feel recognized, not merely accommodated
  • Identify potential concerns before they surface, and address them with the discretion and interpersonal skill that preserves confidence
  • Maintain visible presence in key moments: morning arrival (7–9am), afternoon departure (2–4pm), evening parent gatherings, and select weekend programming
  • Develop a campus culture with authentic depth—events, rituals, and interactions that give families a sense of belonging to something they want to sustain
  • Encourage parent advocacy naturally, delivering experiences of such consistent quality that referrals emerge as the logical result
  • Sustain the ongoing dialogue about Alpha's AI-driven approach with families managing screen time concerns, skeptical relatives, and occasional hesitation—not only during onboarding, but across their entire campus experience
  • Recognize when a family isn't aligned and manage that transition with the same care you bring to every interaction—safeguarding the community is integral to serving it
  • Create the structures and routines this position demands in a setting where the framework is still evolving

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Overseeing enrollment—that responsibility belongs to the Admissions Director; your role starts once families are committed and grows from that point
  • Operating from a desk—your visibility within the community defines the position
  • Maintaining standard 9–5 hours—early mornings, late afternoons, and evening programming are inherent to the role, not occasional adjustments
  • Relying on administrative infrastructure, established workflows, or a fully staffed team—you'll function with significant autonomy and develop what's necessary
  • Approaching family relationships as transactional accounts—this role values authentic engagement over procedural adherence

Requirements

  • Currently residing within commuting range of one of these campuses OR prepared to relocate within 60 days (preference given to candidates with established community ties): Austin, TX; Boca Raton, FL; Burlington, VT; Jackson Hole, WY; Las Vegas, NV; Palm Beach, FL; Park City, UT; Kirkland / Seattle, WA
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without need for sponsorship
  • 5+ years in a relationship-focused role serving high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth families—contexts such as private school admissions, luxury hospitality, philanthropy, or any setting where discretion, warmth, and interpersonal skill were as critical as competence
  • Proven capacity to maintain relationships through challenging situations with sophisticated families and preserve trust throughout
  • Authentic presence and communication approach that quickly earns credibility with affluent, high-expectation families—natural rather than rehearsed
  • Direct familiarity with independent, private, or alternative education—either professionally or as a parent—that provides you with genuine credibility when families challenge the model
  • Sincere confidence in AI-powered education and the capacity to sustain that conviction authentically across years of family engagement, beyond initial enrollment discussions
  • Flexibility for variable hours: early mornings (7–9am), late afternoons (2–4pm), evening programming 2–3x/month, and occasional weekend commitments

Nice-to-have Requirements

Exceptional candidates will possess at least one of the following:

  • Established connections within the local affluent community that would provide immediate, organic credibility on campus
  • Private or independent school background with a demonstrated history of family retention and community strength—beyond enrollment metrics alone
  • Experience managing high-stakes family dynamics where your judgment and discretion were the foundation of sustained trust
  • A natural ability to design experiences—gatherings, moments, settings—where individuals feel part of something they want to protect
  • Prior startup or early-stage organizational experience where you built from the ground up and maintained composure amid rapid change
