Director of Business Development - Site Services

About the role

Piper Companies is seeking a Business Development Director – Site Services to join a growing organization within the clinical research industry for a permanent remote position. The Business Development Director – Site Services will be responsible for expanding strategic partnerships with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, identifying new clinical trial opportunities, and driving revenue growth across a network of research sites.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute business development strategies to secure new clinical trial opportunities with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and research sponsors.
• Build and maintain relationships with clinical operations leaders, procurement teams, and executive stakeholders to support long-term partnerships.
• Manage a portfolio of existing accounts while identifying opportunities to expand service utilization and increase revenue.
• Lead consultative sales discussions, present site capabilities, and collaborate with internal teams to align client needs with operational delivery.
• Represent the organization at industry conferences, client meetings, and networking events to strengthen market presence and generate leads.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience selling CRO, site network, or clinical research services to pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients.
• Demonstrated success engaging Director-level, VP-level, and executive decision-makers within clinical development organizations.
• Strong relationship-building and consultative sales skills with a track record of establishing strategic partnerships.
• Experience managing key accounts, growing existing business, and winning new clinical research opportunities.
• Ability to travel up to 25% for industry events, client visits, and business development activities; Bachelor's degree preferred.

Compensation

Salary Range: $140,000-$145,000/year (UDSD) + commission
