About the role

In this role, you will lead the team accountable for all aspects of building, selling, and executing joint business plans that deliver the objectives of the customer team—including creating and implementing the requisite processes. The Business Development Director must understand the implications their team’s plans have on brand strategies and the broader marketplace. You will work with your team to lead Joint Business Planning and collaborate with key customer contacts to gain alignment on goals and plans. You’ll then partner with the customer and internal stakeholders to execute the plan and check/adjust as necessary. Internally, you are responsible for leading key planning processes and engagements, including the Annual Operating Plan and other tasks to ensure alignment with HQ Strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Business Development team.
  • Deliver Net Sales, Contribution, and Category Share for the assigned customer team.
  • Adhere to Trade Promotion and Pricing guardrails.
  • Achieve Joint Business Plan (JBP) goals mutually agreed upon with the assigned customer.
  • Collaboratively build and implement the Customer Business Plan.
  • Engage the customer in Joint Business Planning to gain alignment on plans.
  • Manage delivery of the plan and business objectives (check and adjust as needed).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (mandatory); Master’s degree (preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in customer management (sales) and customer development, or equivalent in other business functions.
  • Proficiency in business analytics, budgeting, and sales team management.
  • Experience presenting to executive-level staff.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of forecasting, supply and demand processes, shelf reset experience, and business planning tools.
  • Experience working in the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry and across traditional trade channels.
  • Strong record of exceeding sales objectives.
  • Track record of developing and executing unique solutions and innovation for customers.
  • Digital commerce experience (preferred).

Pay

Salary range: $122,400 – $171,400. Annual bonus eligibility.
