Director of Ambulatory Nursing Services
Position Summary
The Director, Ambulatory Nursing Services is responsible for the leadership oversight of the professional nursing/back-office practice model and interdisciplinary care models for patient care within MemorialCare Medical Group. Serves as the liaison between clinical staff, management and other departments with a focus on improving care team efficiencies and patient experience by maximizing the role of each member of the care team. Provides guidance to senior leadership and physician leadership for establishing, implementing, evaluating and improving approaches to patient care, workflows, practice standards and policies and procedures. Research and stays abreast of changes in the health care industry to improve patient care and adherence to local, state and federal regulations.
Essential Functions
- Plans, designs, implements and revise standards of practice of the RN, LVN, MA and ancillary clinical roles for the medical group.
- Ensures medical group and all team members meet established local, state and federal legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Stays abreast of changes in state and federal regulations and anticipates and responds accordingly.
- Designs and implement a comprehensive performance improvement program which maintains consistent nursing and ancillary clinical practices ensuring the highest standard of care.
- Develops, implements and maintains program, to the highest standard of care ensuring a patient centric approach.
- Demonstrates strong understanding of current practice standards and workflows.
- Establishes, implements and maintains workflows, practice standards and policies and procedures to support all specialties within the medical group.
- Affords assistance with evaluating and maintaining a staffing model that meets the standards of practice for the medical group.
- Develops, implements, and maintains a clinical orientation program to train new employees to their job responsibilities ensuring all care teams are practicing to the highest level of scope/licensure and experience.
- Develops, implements, and maintain clinical program for all established employees that allows for ongoing growth and development and creates a patient centric approach to ambulatory care.
- Facilitates interdisciplinary communication of pertinent information to clinical care teams and physicians regarding patient care services.
- Represents the ambulatory nursing perspective at all levels of the Foundation, sharing best practices and resources.
Minimum Requirements
- Five or more years of relevant clinical, management and/or progressive leadership experience, preferably in an integrated care delivery system.
- BSN RN degree required.
- Master’s degree in health related field strongly preferred.
- Current state of California registered nurse licensure.
- Current BCLS.
