About the role
The Director of Advising, Sophomore, Junior and Senior is an important leadership role in the College of Arts and Sciences and Maxwell advising team.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include implementation, oversight, and assessment of advising and support programs and practices in order to promote student success and increase 4 year and 6-year graduation rates. Successful candidate will innovate and evaluate programming to address changing student and faculty advisor needs, serve as liaison among advising office, students, parents, faculty, dean, associate and assistant deans as well as other offices across campus.
Skills and Knowledge
Must be able to multi-task, innovate and work independently as well as collaboratively with faculty, administrators, staff and students. Requires excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and analytical skills. A working familiarity with advising practices, Syracuse University policy and process is required. Must work effectively with diverse constituencies, employ a resourceful approach to problem solving, make sound and timely decisions, and enjoy working with students.
Qualifications
Masters degree required; some doctoral work preferred; Minimum 5 years in Academic and Career advising.
