Director of Admissions, Alpha - $250,000/year USD

Crossover · San Francisco, CA · 1 mo ago
Sales$125/hrFull-time

About the role

The families you engage with don't require additional services. They require someone they trust implicitly. This position is the foundation of that trust. You will be the individual families turn to when uncertainty arises, when they seek insight, or when they wish to communicate something significant—not through obligation, but through credibility you've established. How you show up will define their experience of their child's education at one of two Bay Area locations: San Rafael or downtown San Francisco.

Alpha is constructing a fundamentally different school model. Students finish core academics in two hours daily using AI-driven platforms, then dedicate remaining time to public speaking, critical thinking, and real-world application. No traditional lectures. No filler assignments. Top 1% national performance. Our families are discerning, well-counseled, and frequently skeptical. They demand clarity and reasoning, not rehearsed answers. You will steward that dialogue continuously—not only during enrollment, but throughout their tenure. You will discuss AI with fluency—its mechanics, its shortcomings, and its significance—particularly with families who launch companies, fund them, or demand rigor in every choice.

This is not client management. This is sustained trust-building with ultra-high-net-worth families who expect discretion, judgment, and reliability. If that setting resonates—and you engage with AI daily to think, compose, and execute more efficiently—you will grasp the opportunity at once.

Responsibilities

  • Steward the entire relationship with every campus family, cultivating trust that deepens over time
  • Identify concerns proactively and address them with discretion, urgency, and clear judgment
  • Remain highly visible during critical moments: morning arrival, afternoon departure, and curated parent gatherings
  • Facilitate continuous, substantive conversations about Alpha's AI-powered model with analytically rigorous, tech-savvy families
  • Architect and evolve community experiences that foster belonging, advocacy, and organic referral activity

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Overseeing admissions pipelines or enrollment metrics—your engagement starts after families enroll
  • Operating remotely or relying solely on email—this is a highly visible, in-person role
  • Using templated responses or avoiding challenging questions about AI or educational philosophy
  • Depending on established workflows—you will create structure where none currently exists
  • Viewing families as transactional accounts—this role values judgment over task execution

Requirements

  • Located in or capable of commuting daily to San Rafael or San Francisco
  • 5+ years engaging directly with UHNW individuals or families in private schools, private equity, family offices, or premium client service settings
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage sophisticated, high-stakes relationships with discretion and mature judgment
  • Daily, hands-on user of AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity) with the capacity to articulate AI strengths, risks, and boundaries clearly
  • Commanding presence and communication approach that builds credibility with highly educated, high-expectation families
  • Knowledge of private or independent school environments, gained professionally or personally
  • Flexibility for early morning, late afternoon, and occasional evening or weekend engagements

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Established connections within Bay Area private school or UHNW networks
  • Background engaging with founders, investors, or technology executives
  • Proven success building communities or experiences that generate organic referrals
  • Experience in early-stage or rapid-growth settings characterized by significant ambiguity
  • Skill in distilling complex technical ideas into clear, assured dialogue
