Director of Accounting
Responsibilities
- Utilize accounting skills to support a nonprofit organization providing diverse mental health, substance use disorder, and other support services for social challenges.
- Oversees the operations of the accounting department, including designing an organizational structure to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
- Captures and enforces a documented system of accounting policies.
- Supervises accounting staff, recruiting, selecting, and training employees.
- Creates a well-supported accounting department through coaching, disciplining, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
- Issues timely and complete financial statements, including analysis of actual to budget variances.
- Coordinates and reviews annual audits, including the preparation of the Uniform Financial Report (UFR).
- Coordinates and reviews federal and state tax returns.
- Coordinates and reviews timely compliance filings with various agencies.
- Provides financial analysis reports as needed.
- Maintains compliance with debt covenants.
- Maintains cost reimbursement contract billings and compliance.
- Coordinates timely monthly and year-end close processes.
- Presents financials to program management.
- Maintains patient/client confidentiality and ensures operations are secure.
- Performs other assignments as deemed necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
- 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in the not-for-profit healthcare industry.
- Advanced Excel skills.
