Job Description
Summary: As the Financial Controller, you are responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational oversight of the company's financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls. This role plays a pivotal part in ensuring fiscal integrity, optimizing resource allocation, and supporting enterprise-wide decision-making.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of the Accounting and Finance departments, ensuring alignment with company vision, financial goals, and service standards
- Recruit, develop, coach, and retain high-performing team members to foster engagement, accountability, and professional growth
- Lead the execution of finance-related initiatives by converting strategic objectives into actionable plans with defined performance indicators
- Oversee the preparation, accuracy, and timeliness of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and company policy
- Monitor and manage departmental budgets, forecasting, financial performance metrics, and cost control strategies to drive efficiency and profitability
- Review balance sheet account reconciliations and financial reporting packages; ensure timely resolution of variances or discrepancies
- Oversee the month-end and year-end closing process for all non-gaming related revenues
- Manage payroll functions and related administrative duties to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance
- Cook up internal and external audits, maintaining positive relationships with state, local, and public accounting representatives
- Serve as a strategic business partner to senior leadership and operational departments, offering insights and recommendations based on financial data analysis
- Ensure compliance with all applicable gaming laws and company internal controls, policies and procedures, Title 31, and federal regulations, if they apply to the position
- Provide outstanding guest service in a timely manner to both guests and fellow team members that meets the company's guest service culture standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 7+ years of accounting or financial management experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or senior accounting role; hospitality or multi-unit industry experience preferred
- Demonstrated success in leading financial teams and managing cross-functional projects or enterprise-wide finance initiatives
- Exceptional decision-making, planning, and analytical skills with a proven track record of driving performance and delivering accurate, actionable financial insights
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication abilities; adept at influencing outcomes and leading through change
- Able to navigate ambiguity, manage competing priorities, and remain flexible in a fast-paced environment
- Proven ability to build and sustain high-performance teams through clear expectations, accountability, and mentorship
- Skilled in financial forecasting, budgeting, GAAP, audit coordination, and internal control processes
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with analytics tools and business intelligence platforms
- Experience with Workday is strongly preferred
Requirements
- At least 21 years of age
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or MBA preferred
- Ability to effectively communicate in English, both written and verbal
- Obtain and maintain all work cards as required by the company
