About the role
The Director of Accounting will lead and oversee the organization’s accounting operations across all entities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements, and support for executive decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the accounting function, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting across all entities
- Establish, monitor, and enforce internal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements
- Oversee monthly close, general ledger, audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting processes
- Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, streamline workflows, and reduce reporting lag time
- Partner with executive leadership to provide financial insights, variance analysis, and support strategic decision-making
- Build, develop, and mentor a high-performing accounting team
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s and/or CPA strongly preferred
- 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in healthcare, hospice, or human services
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and experience with audits, tax reporting, and regulatory compliance
- Proven leadership ability with experience developing teams, combined with strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office, with experience in Workday accounting systems (required)
