Director of Accounting
Overview Of The Director Of Accounting Role
Build and establish the accounting function for a newly formed business entity
Develop and maintain the chart of accounts, accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes with aggressive close deadlines
Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports
Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting activities
Oversee accounts payable processes and vendor management
Partner with leadership to support strategic decision-making through financial analysis
Coordinate internal and external audit activities
Monitor manufacturing costs, fixed costs, inventory accounting, and variance analysis
Assist with ERP system implementation and process improvements
Ensure compliance with GAAP and corporate reporting requirements
Preferred Qualifications For The Director Of Accounting Role
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong experience with month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
- Advanced Excel skills with the ability to manage and analyze large volumes of data
- Experience preparing and reviewing balance sheets, P&Ls, and financial analyses
- Manufacturing accounting experience strongly preferred
- Cost accounting and variance analysis experience preferred
- CPA designation preferred
- Public accounting background is a plus
- Experience with ERP implementations is highly desirable
