CUNY SPS seeks a Director of Academic Advisement to provide comprehensive support and services to newly admitted and current students, enhancing their academic journey and success. Reporting to the Chief Student Experience Officer, the Director oversees a stand-alone office of undergraduate advisors and collaborates with graduate/certificate advisors nested within each academic department to ensure the delivery of high-quality, student-centered academic advising and support services. This role leads the development and implementation of an improved academic advisement model for undergraduate, graduate, and certificate students, bringing data-driven, systems-oriented, and state-of-the-art approaches to helping students succeed and complete their degree programs at SPS. In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, key responsibilities include: Provides visionary leadership in developing and maintaining a student-centered case management model of advisement that integrates advising throughout the student's entire college experience, using innovative approaches that support the school's broader retention strategy.Oversees the development and implementation of targeted, data-informed advising interventions, including early academic alert processes, timely re-registration outreach, and stop-out prevention, that leverage key student data points to identify at-risk and unregistered students, ensuring advising staff use data-driven strategies to support persistence, engagement, and completion.Utilizes student success data and student development research to inform advising practices and program outcomes, assessing individual advisor performance and overall program effectiveness to drive continuous improvement toward degree completion.Partners with academic programs, enrollment, and student success leaders to implement a proactive, enrollment-friendly advising model that supports students across all programs.Spearheads the creation and evaluation of advisement policies and procedures, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of a diverse student body.Leads the hiring, supervision, and ongoing professional development of a dynamic team of academic advisement staff, and reviews staff performance through regular coaching and timely evaluations.Participates in recruitment and orientation events, representing advisement services and supporting prospective students.Establishes and maintains shared advisement standards, training, and CRM/system-usage practices across undergraduate, graduate, and certificate advising, serving as the functional lead for advisement quality and consistency university-wide while respecting the distinct supervisory structures of department-based graduate/certificate advisors.Scales the advisement service delivery model to accommodate a growing student body, ensuring advising capacity, staffing, and workflows keep pace with enrollment growth.Continuously monitors emerging advising research and technology, and leads the implementation of best-practice use of EAB Navigate and other current and future CRM platforms across the advisement team, ensuring advisors are trained and workflows support intentional advising interactions between students and their assigned advisor.Co-leads campus-wide retention efforts, including leading the retention subcommittee, and consults with graduate program leadership on advisement best practices.Performs related duties as assigned. Note Until further notice, work will be performed in a hybrid manner with 70% onsite presence. Qualifications Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience required. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Education, Higher Education, Counseling, Social Work or a related field.Direct experience with EAB Navigate.Experience advising online,adult, or non-traditional student populations.Experience with outcomes assessment and data-informed program improvement.Experience designing or implementing case-management advising models.Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Cuny Title Overview Direct overall operations of an advising unit, setting goals and priorities aligned with the institutional mission and student success.Design and implement a structured framework that strengthens advisors' core competencies and advising approaches focused on key student success goals, such as early academic-career exploration and degree completion.Cultivate a data-informed culture by establishing clear protocols for the regular review, analysis, and sharing of relevant data to evaluate advising effectiveness, monitor student progression, support advisor development, and inform continuous improvement within the advising unit.Lead adoption and utilization of all advisement-related technologies across the advising unit to ensure students receive a consistent standard of care.Oversee fiscal planning, resource allocation and budget management to ensure responsible stewardship of institutional resources to support advising unit goals.Foster campus wide partnerships to integrate advising contributions into financial literacy initiatives, degree completion efforts, and pathway programming.Provide leadership and direction for all advising center staff to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality academic advisement and establishing benchmarks for success.Performs related duties as assigned.
