Job Location: This position will be located at 205 Jefferson St., Jefferson City, MO 65101.

The Office of College and Career Readiness consists of three areas:

  • Curriculum Services – The curriculum services section provides professional services related to the development and implementation of improved curricula in the schools of the state.
  • Career Education – Missouri Career Education combines academics and occupational skill training to prepare students of all ages. Training programs are offered in Agriculture, Business, Health Sciences, Family and Consumer Sciences, Skilled Technical Sciences, Technology and Engineering, and Marketing and Cooperative Education.
  • School Counseling – The School Counseling Section provides resources and technical assistance to help school counselors fully implement comprehensive school counseling programs in their schools.

Assists local education agencies in planning, implementing, and evaluating business and marketing programs at the secondary, postsecondary, and adult levels, and develops statewide priorities, strategic plans, reports, and program evaluations.

  • Maintains fiscal and supervisory responsibilities for approved business and marketing programs, including oversight of DESE reporting and documentation.
  • Develops and implements statewide mentoring and induction programs for business and marketing teachers; consults with teacher educators regarding pre-service and in-service programs; and supports ongoing teacher growth initiatives.
  • Oversees the coordination of statewide professional development activities for teachers, including organizing and facilitating at the annual MOACTE Conference.
  • Assists in the development, alignment, and dissemination of curriculum frameworks and instructional materials to support high-quality classroom instruction.
  • Coordinates industry-recognized credential (IRC) program committee meetings which evaluates and recommends IRCs to the DESE-approved list.
  • Supports the Career and Technical Student Organizations operated by the section (Collegiate DECA, High School DECA, Middle School FBLA, High School FBLA, and Collegiate FBLA).
  • Works collaboratively within the Office of College and Career Readiness and other offices within the Division of Learning services to support the overall mission of DESE.
  • Demonstrate regular, reliable, and engaged attendance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Education, Marketing Education, or closely related field.
  • OR four or more years of any combination of experience, teaching, coordinating, or supervising business, marketing, and/or cooperative education.
  • Lack of post‐secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.
