Responsibilities
- Oversight of claim handling entities associated with Programs/MGAs to ensure authority is not breached
- Auditing and monitoring claim handling
- Performing initial and annual due diligence of claim handling entities
- Validating compliance with insurance/reinsurance contracts, claim handling guidelines, and internal policies and procedures
- Working with Program Managers to on-board, design, and implement procedures
- Managing the day-to-day technical and operational aspects of US P&C Program/MGA business within allocated workload
- Evaluating reserves on specific claims and monitoring adequacy of reserves at portfolio and individual claim level
- Establishing and maintaining appropriate claims reports, including trend analysis, claim lifecycle improvement, and indemnity containment measures
- Interpreting contract coverage upon referral from the Program/MGA to determine liability and extent of participation in claims
- Instructing and managing independent experts
- Maintaining cooperation and regular interaction with other functions within SiriusPoint, including Senior Management, Compliance, Underwriters, and the Actuarial team
- Maintaining relationships with brokers, ceding companies, lawyers, and loss adjusters in connection with claims matters
- Monitoring risk arising from claims programs against agreed SiriusPoint risk appetite/tolerances; promptly escalating risk events/control failures and taking appropriate actions
- Handling or consulting on MGA/Program claims outside of the U.S. as part of a global Claims Team
Requirements
- Significant claims adjusting or leadership experience (at least 10-15 years) within Casualty, Property, and specialty lines (Professional Lines) preferred
- Commitment to further training and knowledge gathering through attendance at market seminars, undertaking training courses, and being active in relevant professional networks
- The ability to make good decisions within the confines of accepted claims turnaround practice
- The ability to analyze claims data and use data to inform strategic decisions at both an individual claim and portfolio level
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to represent the company (and its clients) effectively and professionally within the market
- The ability to work to tight deadlines
- Team player, with the ability to mentor/assist in the development of employees
- B.A./B.S. or equivalent University degree
- Additional insurance-related certificates and credentials are preferred but not required
- Strong IT skills, including knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products
