Director Med Surg Tower 2
Regular full-time position, 80 hours every two weeks, day shift.
About the Role
The Director Med/Surg is accountable for the planning, implementation, and operation of the department to meet the needs of the organization. Provides leadership and expertise in managing the department, with accountability for human resource management, financial management, and quality management in support of the mission, vision, and strategic objectives of Yuma Regional Medical Center (YRMC).
Responsibilities
- Planning/Vision: Provides vision, forward-thinking, and strategic planning. Develops short- and long-term objectives for the department and ensures plans align with the medical center’s goals. Collaborates with leadership and physicians to evaluate programs and emerging technologies.
- Fiscal Management: Develops and manages an annual budget and operational plan. Engages staff in cost containment and efficiency improvements. Identifies opportunities for program growth and revenue enhancement. Manages to a volume-adjusted budget.
- Customer Service: Demonstrates commitment to excellent service for patients, physicians, employees, and other customers. Fosters open communication, respect, and collaboration. Promotes Patient & Family Centered Care and sets expectations for respectful behavior.
- Operational Management / Quality: Commits to operational excellence through planning, organization, and decision-making. Implements performance improvement activities and eliminates inefficiencies. Ensures qualified staff and resources are available to deliver safe, high-quality care. Establishes performance standards to measure service effectiveness and efficiency.
- System Thinking: Understands how individual and departmental actions contribute to institutional goals. Balances departmental and hospital needs while working collaboratively with stakeholders to achieve shared objectives.
- Human Resources Management: Develops staff through clear expectations, mentoring, and accountability. Identifies staffing needs and required competencies. Partners with HR to develop long-term workforce plans. Fosters an open, collaborative, and empowering work environment.
- Community: Leverages system capabilities to improve value for customers and remove barriers to care. Participates in and promotes community involvement. Incorporates community goals into departmental objectives. Maintains relevant continued education.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 5+ years of related experience.
- 3+ years of supervisory experience.
- Bachelor’s degree (required).
- Registered Nurse (RN) license (required).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required).
Pay
Base hiring salary range for this position:
- Minimum: $121,599.92
- Midpoint: $158,079.94
- Maximum: $194,559.88
Actual salaries may vary based on factors such as skills and experience. The salary range is one component of the total rewards/compensation package.
