Management and operations lead for a global United States Government (USG)-funded health project, overseeing cross-functional teams and activities from award through close-out across multiple countries.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to the Project Director to ensure efficient, compliant, timely, and results-oriented project implementation.
- Collaborate with Project Management Team (PMT), technical, and finance leadership to manage systems, services, staff, and budgets to meet financial, administrative, and project goals.
- Deliver timely and accurate project reports to company management and donors as required.
- Ensure procurement practices comply with relevant policies, rules, and regulations (e.g., USG and FHI 360).
- Maximize cost and operational efficiencies in project implementation.
- Execute management processes to ensure on-time, within-budget delivery aligned with contractual terms.
- Establish and manage contractual reporting systems to ensure on-time submission to the client.
- Oversee and lead cost-efficient sub-awarding of multiple organizations globally.
- Lead project-wide human resource planning, including recruitment, orientation, and supervision of project staff to meet programmatic and workforce needs.
- Engage with the client on management and operations-related items.
- Develop structured work plans to manage project implementation closely.
- Provide functional and operational supervision through matrix management to ensure alignment with work plans, troubleshoot issues, and escalate country-level challenges.
- Ensure timely, high-quality, and regulation-compliant activity reporting per organizational and donor guidelines.
- Provide supportive guidance and supervision to staff and managers implementing projects within the assigned area of expertise.
- Collaborate with cross-functional groups on staff development, leveraging international staff to mentor local staff for short-term accountability and long-term capacity building.
- Support performance management and professional development of direct reports, including feedback, coaching, and career support.
- Serve as a de-facto deputy to the Project Director.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Proven management and operations leadership of complex, global multi-country health projects.
- Effective strategic planning, project evaluation, and project management skills.
- Strong business acumen, staff development, management, and reporting experience.
- Strong consultative and negotiation skills.
- Experience with operations management, corporate policies, compliance, and procedures oversight.
- Demonstrated public relations and diplomacy skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to speak the country’s language and build positive local working relationships with communities, government officials, and donor representatives.
- Ability to analyze and establish effective cross-project coordination, organizational procedures, and management systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or its international equivalent in Business Administration, Public Health, Social Sciences, or a related field. Project Management (PM) Certification preferred.
- Minimum of 12+ years of relevant experience in project management with projects management principles and practices.
- Leadership experience on large, multi-country global projects; USG-funded projects strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with applicable rules, regulations, and policies associated with international development and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
- English fluency required; fluency in a second language (e.g., French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian) is an added benefit.

Pay
US-based hiring salary range: USD $130,000 - $160,000 annually. International hiring ranges will differ based on location.
